EBNS2025: Dynamic architecture in the spotlight at a sustainability event

The European Business & Nature Summit, a leading European sustainability event, highlights new types of sustainable development solutions. Parmaco took part in the event to showcase dynamic architecture – solution for renovating the construction industry toward a more sustainable future.

The European Business & Nature Summit (EBNS) is held in Helsinki on 23–24 October 2025. The event seeks solutions for sustainable, nature-positive businesses. One of the most dynamic presentations was delivered on the first day by Parmaco’s Director of business development, Tomi Vittaniemi, who emphasized that without a complete renovation of the construction industry, climate targets will remain out of reach.

“The construction industry accounts for around one-third of global CO₂ emissions. While there are already solutions for the construction phase, the biggest challenge lies in building use: maintaining and heating empty spaces for no reason makes no sense — neither environmentally nor economically. With dynamic, adaptable buildings, this can be changed,” Vittaniemi said.

No more natural resources on empty, static buildings

EBNS2025 brings together business leaders, investors, and policymakers from various sectors to discuss how business can promote a nature-positive and more sustainable future. The construction industry is both a crucial part of the solution — and a significant source of the problem. Parmaco’s presentation offered a concrete solution on how modular buildings can be reused, relocated, and modified according to changing needs.

“We must dare to tear down obsolete, static buildings so that no more energy and natural resources are spent on heating and upkeeping. The future needs spaces that adapt to real needs and truly follow circular economy principles,” Vittaniemi emphasized.

The session featured insights from different sectors as well as practical examples of implemented solutions. Participants also had the opportunity to discuss key enablers in an interactive panel.
